The YMCA Turkey Trot will celebrate its 12th running on Thanksgiving morning, November 27, 2014. The Turkey Trot began in 2003 with 40 entries. It’s now Kearney’s largest race with over 800 entries.

Proceeds raised through the Turkey Trot are used to provide financial assistance to children and families who otherwise would be unable to participate in programs and services at the Y. Turkey Trot also helps to underwrite child care programs and activities that are not self-sustaining. This allows the YMCA to say "Yes!" to those who otherwise would not be able to participate. The YMCA offers a complete continuum of services for all ages.
