Hello and welcome to the Kearney Family YMCA website!

I started working here at the Kearney Y in the Family Center and Service Desk in 2014. It started off a part-time job that was able to work with my schedule while I was going to college for theater here at UNK. When I graduated in 2015, I was offered a chance to join the Y team as the Service Center Manager and quickly jumped to the opportunity.

During my time as a member and then as an employee I quickly learned that the Y organization was so much more than just a gym or a place to swim. It truly is a cause, a place for the community and for the members to find another home. Coming from a small town here in Nebraska, it felt like that same environment. Everyone is supportive, encouraging, and having the familiar faces really help to connect to the Y family.

Together the Welcome Center staff and I have really focused on making sure that every member or visitor are welcomed as our own family members. Our aspiration as the Welcome Center team is to live and exemplify our values of: Honesty, Caring, Responsibility, and Respect. No person is a number in our eyes and every person matters. No matter the size, shape, fitness experience level, financial income situation, etc. We value all of the community, whether they are members our facility or another, Kearney is our family.
